# A Tree Full of Minor Gods

_Buddy Lien · 2026-09-16 · Digital painting made with AI image tools_

A banyan accommodates a collection of gods with very local difficulties.

## A note on this painting

This tree kept trying to become a comfortable home for charming forest spirits. I kept bothering it. Two gods ended up sharing a moustache neither seems willing to surrender; a peach is having a dreadful time inside somebody else’s head. Near the roots, a little figure has started taking off its own outline. I’m fond of that one’s attempt to leave.

Alt text: An enormous pale banyan filled with faces and tiny gods. Two faces pull a shared moustache, an angry peach sits in a bowl-shaped head, and purple and green faces emerge from roots and leaves.
