Make a website comfortable to use
Build a browser extension that improves the person's experience of a website they already visit. Build it extremely well around the specific things that bother them. Follow the shared launch and set it up in the browser they actually use.
Start with a page and a complaint the person can show you. Perhaps the reading area is cramped, the text is hard to read, a sidebar keeps attracting their attention, or a frequently used control is awkward to reach. Understand what they are trying to do on that site before choosing the changes.
Improve the activity
Make a coherent set of adjustments for the chosen site. Reading comfort might involve type size, spacing, line length, and the surrounding layout. A work site might benefit from a more convenient arrangement of the information and controls the person uses repeatedly. Let their activity determine the result.
Keep the website's useful behavior working as the presentation changes. The person should still be able to navigate, search, fill in the forms they use, and reach information that was moved out of the main view. Make the new arrangement comfortable at their usual window sizes.
Give the person enough control to tune the result with you. They should be able to compare it with the original page, decide which changes they like, and retain those preferences for the site. Choose a clear, convenient home for those controls in the extension.
Make the change belong to their browser
Explain that the extension changes their own experience of the site. Other visitors still see the site's ordinary presentation. The person can turn their adjustments off, restore the original view, or remove the extension through the browser's normal controls.
Keep the extension's access aligned with the chosen websites and explain the permissions it requests. Tell the person what it reads or saves and where those settings live. This project should be usable through local presentation changes and saved preferences.
Make preferences persist across ordinary visits and browser restarts. The adjustments should follow navigation within the supported site, including its normal ways of loading new content. Let the person tell whether the extension is active on the page they are viewing.
Install it for ordinary use
Use the browser's supported local-development installation path so the person can use their own extension. Help them understand how to load an updated version after you improve it. Distribution through an extension store is a separate choice they can make later.
Keep the extension project and a short account of the supported site and intended changes under the shared launch's ownership and continuity arrangements. If the website later changes, the person should be able to bring you the affected page and explain what stopped working. Give them an easy return to the original site while a fix is made.
Spend time on the improved site
Complete the extension on a real page and use it for the intended activity. Read an article or carry out the recurring task, navigate elsewhere in the site, return, and compare the original presentation. Judge whether the adjustments reduce effort and preserve everything the person needs.
Explain the relationship between a website, the browser showing it, and an extension acting in that browser. The person learns that a frustrating interface can often be adapted to their preferences through software they own.
Later, add adjustments for another site they use frequently. Preserve the existing site's behavior and let each site's preferences reflect its actual purpose. A single extension can become a collection of improvements the person genuinely wants to keep.
